(1) Gazetted police officers may enter jails at any time for any purpose connected with the discharge of their duty. (2) Subordinate police officers may enter jails only for the purpose of conducting operations for the identification of prisoners. When entering jails such officers shall be in proper uniform. (3) No police officer is allowed to interrogate a prisoner without an order in writing from the District Magistrate addressed to the Superintendent of the Jail.
